I’m looking to do some case studies and am pondering who out there is doing interesting things with Linux. I define interesting pretty broadly, though in general for a case study to be useful there needs to be something people can learn from it.
To offer some examples of what I felt were really excellent (and fun) case studies to write up:
- Linux Picked in Gendarmerie Lineup, which not only offered some spectacular results (which I don’t expect from every case) but also offered a ton of helpful observations involving the process they used during their Linux migration.
- TOURCast: A Real-Time Golf Coverage Application on Linux, which highlighted technology many weren’t familiar with (on-demand IBM zSeries hosting), which let people and gave insight into behind-the-scenes operations for something of interest to at least some segments of the public.
I’m not a snob, there’s lots of room for smaller, less grandiose stories featuring less showy implementations. But what’s really going to pique my interest is useful lessons learned or new approaches. Anyway, if you’ve heard of anything you’d like to know more about or think deserves some more attention, let me know and who knows, I might write it up.
